hello
have this peculiar problem:
I have several PCs with W7 enterprise 64 installed
one is a Lenovo laptop, remote controlling a maxitower pc serving as a "musicserver"
the musicserver is equipped with 8TB of harddiscs with Wav musicfiles
OS disc is SSD Kingston Hypex 120gb
asus motherboard with quad 6600 cpu and 8gb ram
Musicfilesplayer is Foobar 2000 feeding usb to asyncronious usb receiver in external d/a converter and then into stereo system
Laptop is hooked up to wireless home network through D-Link 855 router
Musicserver is hooked up with wired LAN to router
Remote desktop is set up to play sound out from remotecontrolled pc.
the usb receiver in the dac has its own asio driver installed in the pc
the problem:
recently, when being remotecontrolled the "musicserver" has started halting/freezing randomnly for up to between 2-15 seconds and subsequently the sound stops
thought it might be just Foobar, but when watching the task manager under performance I can see that the whole pc halts all activity, then restarts all activity by itself
think the problem have increased for the last couple of days
this does not happen when I work directly on the musicserver
installed teamviewer and all is fine, same with logmein, so it´s obviously linked to the Windows remote desktop function
any ideas
by the way; windows update is on, but needs my acceptance to install; I normally install all except IE9 ( I use Firefox)and new languages
have installed microsoft security essentials , no other security programs, firewall is in recommended settings
user account control is off!
the OS is a new fresh install due to SSD failure yesterday, problem still the same as the day before
I really prefer the user interfase of the remote desktop compared to the others
all suggestions are welcome
best
