A cable assembly for connection between an audio amplifier and a loudspeaker in which a plurality of insulated electrical signal-conducting wires, or conductors are bundled together. The conductors are formed into two groups, one of which is connected between the positive terminals of the amplifier and the loudspeaker and the other of which is connected between the negative terminals of the amplifier and loudspeaker. The number of conductors and the diameter of each conductor is chosen and the design is such that the characteristic impedance of the cable assembly is within the range of the impedance of the loudspeaker. As a result a significant reduction in ringing and/or blurring of complex musical transient signals caused by reflections attributable to the mismatch between the characteristic impedance of the cable and the input impedance of the loudspeaker is achieved.

Abstract
The invention provides a compact, circular, flexible, and shielded twin-axial, multi-stranded power cable for transferring current instantaneously and with uniform density substantially free from phase delays at 60 Hz. between a high current power amplifier and a standard three-hole 112 volt AC outlet achieving a pure and powerful bass response and clear, brilliant noise-free highs. The cable has two bundles of five insulated conductors helically and symmetrically wrapped around a dielectric center. The gauge of each conductor and total cross-sectional area of the bundled conductors are predetermined to avoid internal inductance and phase delay effects while providing high current instantaneously and uniformly in high-end audio power applications. In between the bundles are located ground wires which run the length of the cable. The bundles and ground wires are spirally twisted around each other for structural integrity and for a generally round cross-sectional shape. A thin polypropylene filler surrounds this spiral twist. A non-insulated drain wire and an aluminum foil shield are wrapped around the filler. A flexible cable jacket is extruded around the shielded cable. The cable of the present invention unexpectedly renders benefits in high-end audio applications even though it does not operate within the signal path of the system.

Abstract
FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed stranded conductor designed for signal transfer in audio frequency band from readers to amplifying and/or reproducing domestic and professional devices is manufactured in process involving production of flat metal strands and coating of stranded conductor surface with insulation. For the purpose use is made of at least three flat metal strands, and additional insulating layer is disposed between flat surfaces of adjacent strands prior to coating stranded conductor surface with insulation; end sections of strands are brought out beyond insulation layers and strands are interconnected at each end section of conductor; the latter is made of at least three flat metal strands 11, 12, 13 whose flat surfaces are facing each other with insulating layers 9 and 11 inserted between flat surfaces 5-6 and 7-8 of adjacent strands 1-2 and 2-3; end sections 11, 12, and 13 of strands 1-3 brought out beyond insulating layers 4 and 9-10 are interconnected through solder layers 14 and 15.
EFFECT: reduced distortion of electric signal in audio frequency band when passed through proposed stranded conductor.
