While speaking about the potential loss of U.S. auto manufacturing jobs to foreign countries, former President Donald Trump said if he isn't elected, "it’s going to be a bloodbath for the country."
Der står det:
“If you actually watch and listen to the section, he was talking about the auto industry and tariffs.”

In a town hall with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, the former president was pressed on whether he would disavow taking retributive action against all his enemies if he reentered the Oval Office. He initially shied away from responding, but when asked a second time said he would only be a dictator on the first day of his second term. He emphasized that it would be for two specific issues.
“I want to close the border and I want to drill, drill, drill,” Trump said. “Other than that, I am not a dictator.”
Trump, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, echoed a key campaign attack as he went after President Joe Biden over immigration and singled out Ruby Garcia's killing
"They've been told officially, legally, in every way, that we have nothing to do with Project 25,” Trump said. “They know it, but they bring it up anyway. They bring up every single thing that you can bring up. Every one of them was false.”
Tror du fortsatt at alt the Donald sier er sant?
They are eating your pets, can you believe it?
No I can't, but someone heard it from a friend who had a neighbour, who heard it from a sister and so I posted it on Facebook

Donald Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday was so revolting that it got the media to do something it almost never does: explicitly call something “racist." The rally was meant to deliver Trump’s closing argument for why voters should give...

Og, surprise, surprise, bells and whistles og en trommevirvel: Forordet til Project 2025 var skrevet av.. wait for it.. en mann langt fra Trump kampanjen:
Nemlig J D Vance
Michigan i går:

"over there".
New YorkTimes er tapt for meg for lenge siden

I’ll come back to the “BIDEN” issue later in this answer. First let’s spend a little time talking about what inflation IS and what it ISN’T. Call it ECON 101 if you want. And for once, the answer is written by an ACTUAL ECONOMIST.
First, inflation was this high between 1979 and 1981 — double digits 10%-15% for 34 months. Inflation was also in double-digits from Jan ’74 through Apr ‘75. In the current inflation, it only exceeded 8% for about 3 or 4 months. Still not fun, but certainly not a record breaker.
Now…a few words about what IS and IS NOT inflation and where this came from.
People bitching about food, gas and rent prices is NOT inflation. That’s the price level. Prices do change with inflation, but they are NOT the same thing. Prices will increase or decrease normally in the day to day of capitalism. In fact, in most socialist systems, prices go up and down in the same way. In the simplest definition, when people in aggregate want more of something, or if the local factory cuts production for some reason, prices will adjust because we want more of stuff and we’re making less of that stuff… so the price increases. That is NOT inflation.
Inflation is when there is a systematic pattern of price increase… not for one good or a bunch of goods, but a generalized pattern across a whole economy. There are lots of causes for inflation, but the simplest is when there is too much money in the system for the amount of goods being produced / sold. That is the “one-phrase” definition of inflation. Too much money chasing too few goods. As long as the “too much money” condition exists, prices will continue to increase.
The main way that we get “too much money” is when the goverenment spends money it doesn’t have: i.e. deficit spending. Certainly government has been doing that for more years than most people can count. The only time in the last 50 years that we’ve had a budget surplus was during the Clinton administration. All of those budget deficits have baked in most inflation. But the Federal Reserve System has ways to try to “manage” inflation, and they usually do a pretty good job of keeping inflation under control.
The current inflation has a couple of additional factors that need to be considered. In 2020, the world was facing a pandemic, and a difficult decision. If people continued to go to work, school, and to shop, the medical professionals said that business as usual would lead to millions of people dying, and maybe worse, the healthcare system would be overwhelmed and many would die because there weren’t enough doctors, nurses and equipment, so the general health was another concern. But folks couldn’t “just stay home” or they would starve. So the government sent out “STIMULUS PAYMENT” to folks so they could stay home and not have people dying in the streets. Early in the Biden administration, a third stimulus payment went out to help folks pay those bills so they didn’t die of starvation. Not a lot of goods being made.
So by definition, inflation was one predictable result, and prices started rising. Fast forward and the “shutdown” is pretty much over, but a lot of businesses didn’t have money to “let’s hire everybody back and start making goods like nothing ever happened”. Supply chains were disrupted, so you couldn’t make cars without parts. The idea was to have a big project to get business back to producing, and let’s inject more money by fixing stuff that needed fixed (like bridges and highways) and they called that the Inflation Reduction Act. They also gave businesses loans to keep people employed and start back up with fewer headaches. Remember PPP loans?
Some thought all that spending was bad. Some politicians actually said “just let our old folks die so younger people don’t lose their jobs and their houses and stuff” (yes, a few said that…even in my admittedly moronic state—TX). There is a legitimate argument that some of those stimulus payments and infrastructure payments and business loans were excessive. I’m not going to get into all of that.
If you wish we’d just wiped out a few more nursing homes and let a few more businesses go belly up — fine. You’re welcome to that opinion. But at the time, those driving the bus took us that direction to make things as good as they could. Nobody can drive the bus BACKWARDS to correct any of those mistakes, so we’re stuck with the current results.
Inflation took off like (pick your own metaphor). Inflation is the speed of increase. Usually measured by the amount prices went up this month compared to this same month a year ago. There are a lot of different ways to get fancy with the calculations including seasonal adjustment and annualized rate of change — but the core of that is “HOW MUCH DID THE AVERAGE MARKET BASKET PRICE INCREASE IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS?”
As you can see, in 2021, inflation started up (2 of the 3 stimulus payments were already made by this time) and it accelerated till mid 2022, at a maximum rate of about 9%, but it has come down since then. Inflation is currently at 2.4% as of September, 2024, which is pretty close to the long term target of 2% from the Federal Reserve.
Also the following graph shows Inflation (black line) vs Real Wages. This means for most folks prices are more affordable (wages went up more than prices did). The problems with statistics like this is that folks blame the the Price Inflation on the government, and their wage increases on “I worked like the devil for that raise”. But on average real wages have been mostly stagnant for decades, and the fact that the average real wage is now increasing is something to brag about.
Additional help understanding this information. This chart does NOT mean that prices went up 9% in Mar-22, and up another 9% in Apr-22, etc. The total increase in prices from January 2021 to September 2024 is 19%. So when your wife comes home from the store saying “EVERYTHING IS 3 TIMES AS EXPENSIVE” that’s simply not true. I realize it still is painful.. but it’s NOT 3 times. The current CPI is 3 times as expensive as it was in January 1980.
So if you’re pissed off about prices being higher than they used to be, I’m sorry. Things aren’t going back. The reverse of inflation is DEFLATION. Deflation is a very painful process. It means nobody has any money to afford power, gas, food, or anything else. Cars being repossessed, homes foreclosed, apartment dwellers being evicted, soup lines, etc. Prices come down with catastrophic recession/depression.
If you disagree with how we got here, I sympathize. Explain to Grandma that you made a mistake and wish she’d have croaked so you could get cheap trips to Disney World like you used to. I’m sure she would understand.
As for the BIDEN part of this equation, ask yourself what you’re really mad about:
The pandemic began under Trump in early 2020. Nobody is saying it was Trump’s fault. You may love the way he handled it or may feel him personally responsible for X% of the deaths. Enjoy your opinion. Nobody right now can change any of this.
The shutdown was during Trump’s administration. He bitched about it, but it wasn’t Biden’s decision. He might have done better…or done worse. Doesn’t matter, Biden didn’t have a time machine.
You don’t think those “STIMULUS PAYMENTS” were called for. Those are about 2/3 of the inflation cause. You’re welcome to send those payments back. The IRS will accept them — just label the checks so they get your protest properly recorded. Two of the checks were sent during the Trump admin, and a third check was sent after Biden took office.
You hate all the “projects” that came with the Inflation Reduction Act. Except the projects that helped YOUR district. Warning…many of the congresspersons and Senators who voted against these projects are now taking credit for them. I know….I’m shocked at this too.
Official death toll from Corona Virus pandemic in the US: 1.2Million. Pretty big disaster. Here we are 4 years later and The Economist magazine just proclaimed the US Economy the ENVY OF THE WORLD, and that the US Economy has left other Rich Nations in the Dust. And THAT is mostly Biden’s and Harris’s fault. Thank you notes currently being accepted at The White House.
Note: Wishing you could buy what you want without the pain of “how the economy got this way” is a juvenile reaction EXACTLY like explaining to your kids why Disney World isn’t possible 3 years in a row.
