Bio

Your publisher was born in Flensburg, Germany in 1962 with six planets -- not moons -- in Aquarius. He spent his formative years studying classical clarinet, first in a marching band, then later with private lessons and eventually at the conservatories of Hannover and Stuttgart. From 1974 on, he participated in regular music work shops that organized complete symphony orchestras assembled from amateur and semi-professional musicians. They practiced concert repertoires over seven to ten days, then concluded the workshops with a few public performances.
Later, he became a member of Germany's Federal Youth Orchestra under the professional baton of Volker von Wangenheim. This orchestra was comprised of prize winners from Germany's annual music competitions. It attracted guest conductors like Claudio Abbado and soloist virtuoso like Alexis Weissenberg. This temporary symphony orchestra -- assembled during conservatory vacations -- toured England, Scotland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Germany and participated in music festivals in Montreux and Edinburgh.
At eighteen -- and much to the surprise and chagrin of friends and relatives -- your future scribe traveled to India to spend time in the ashram of the controversial mystic Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh who later became known simply as Osho. Osho gave him the name Dhyan Srajan which translates as "creativity from meditation".
Srajan eventually abandonded his classical music studies to concentrate on these new introspective pursuits. He emigrated to the US to become part of the famous/infamous Rajneeshpuram community in the high desert of Oregon. When that large-scale experiment ended and much of the community regrouped in the former Indian headquarters of Poona, he decided to stay and make the United States his home.
Via a somewhat circuitous professional route -- with stop-overs in construction, his own window cleaning business and later employment as Pilates-based fitness trainer and outcall masseur in Beverly Hills -- he eventually surfaced in High-End audio retail. He worked for four years in an audio store cum Art gallery in Northern California's wine country and became involved with the Sonoma County artist community for which he organized semi-monthly art shows. He then spent the next five years as National Sales Manager for Mesa Boogie's High-End division of Mesa Baron and Tigris tube amplifiers fame, and two equivalent assignments with Meadowlark Audio and the Soliloquy Loudspeaker Corporation.
The authoring bug bit in the summer of 1999 when Srajan submitted his first unsolicited equipment review to SoundStage!. He was soon offered a regular column that he christened The Y-Files in a humorous bow both to the X-Files -- laden with intrigue and conspiracy theories -- and the perennial question "why" that plagues most mortals, audiophiles included. The Y-Files became an outlet for his hands-on involvement with audio dealers and manufacturers across the country. In April of 2001, he decided to pursue writing full-time and became involved with the re-launch of GoodSound!, a SoundStage! affiliated site dedicated to affordable gear. He also launched a second and parallel column to The Y-Files called Earmarked!. In November of 2001, Srajan moved back to Soliloquy as contract website manager and in-house technical and creative writer. He now joined EnjoyTheMusic.com with the creation of two new columns, Earwax -- a continuation of the Y-Files format -- and Global Caravan, a music column dedicated to WorldBeat and Ethnic Fusion. Armed with the ongoing experience of building out Soliloquy's website and working on a few others, now the creative urge arose to go solo as a writer. He launched 6moons.com in June 2002 out of the mountain hamlet of Taos in the high desert of New Mexico"
