Socrates kommenterer:
David Brooks, here's another Kentucky story, a deplorable story of voter indignity and incoherence.
Meet Frank Dixon, now 54, his body damaged from decades working as a mechanic in the coal mining industry.
“There’s mornings, days I can’t hardly get up,” he says, easing into a chair in his living room. But say the word “Obamacare,” and Dixon bristles — even though he’s covered by it.
At least half a million Kentucky residents have gotten coverage — one of the largest drops in the number of uninsured in the nation.
Dixon lost his job and health coverage in 2012 in the coal industry, an industry in obvious decline for decades.
He and his 19-year-old son were uninsured for a year.
Then the Affordable Care Act started, and Kentucky set up its own insurance exchange, called Kynect. Dixon signed up and qualified for a Medicaid plan.
Once insured, the first thing he did was get his back checked out.
But when asked if he supports “Obamacare,” Dixon let out a long sigh and fidgeted in his chair. “I don't know how to answer that,” he said. “Some things are left unsaid”.
Things like "I hate Obama and Obamacare"
In 2012, Kentucky voted for Mitt Romney 61% to 38%.
Romney, the guy who sliced and diced employees and companies and organ-harvested the tax code for a living, was a Kentucky superhero.
Obama, the guy who helped Kentuckians...is the Devil.
And Kentucky will vote for Donald Trump, the man who is going to 'bring back coal' and repeal 'Obamacare'.
Incoherent people.
