After a five year break the “Colossus of Rio” is back with his 14th studio album, taking us on a journey, crossing musical boarders and inviting you to listen not only to groovy soulful songs but also to dive into almost cinematic moods.
With his unparalleled musicianship, Motta’s captivating arrangements and richly layered compositions create an exquisite fusion of genres. Each track on Behind The Tea Chronicles showcases his mastery of various musical styles, incorporating elements of funk, soul, jazz and even Broadway sounds, that of course feature his velvety smooth vocals. Commenting on his latest album, Ed Motta said, “I wanted to create something truly unique with ‘Behind The Tea Chronicles.’ Movies and old TV series have always had a profound impact on my imagination and musicality. Behind The Tea Chronicles features an impressive lineup of renowned musicians, including notable collaborations with both Brazilian and international artists. Hi everyone! It’s been three years since my last album and since I got a chance to do an “one night only” gig, I was crazy enough to accept. Also I thought it could be nice to wrap things up with a recording of it. I wasn’t sure that this material could be performed live at all, but at the same time I was curious to find out how these songs would sound in that situation, without studio refinements and tens of different players and singers. This is not easy material to play, that’s for sure! But, I was so lucky to find these fine musicians who were also crazy enough to do this! It’s different, it’s raw and it’s organic. Did I say it was crazy? It will be released 27 October 2023 on streaming platforms.

Jeg ikke har utforsket America noe særlig mer enn de tidlige 70-talls albumene. Fant ut at mange av de senere albumene også falt i min smak, f.eks Alibi fra 1980:
Solgte vel ikke allverden. Men er et velprodusert album, med seg har de bl.a. Steve Lukather, Timothy B. Schmit, J. D. Souther osv. Albumet kom på cd først i 1997. Handlet en digital variant på Qoubuz og den låter veldig bra.

Super db is a 4-piece band from the South of England whose sound is a distinctive mix of pop, disco, funk, rock and jazz is evoking the sound of the early 80s American West Coast. The lineup consists of twin brothers J-M Sutcliffe (Guitars & Vocals) and J-P Sutcliffe (Keyboards, Percussion & Vocals), along with two new members, Jonathan Wills (Drums, Percussion) and Indigo Pearce (Bass). Following their second album “Ecoute Ca”, Super db now release their third album “Downtown”. The album has spawned four singles so far, “Back To Me”, “Downtown City Girl”, “Side By Side” and “Hard Drivin’”.
“Downtown” features all the trademark Super db ingredients, including soulful close harmony vocal stacks, popping bass lines, ripping guitar solos, and jazz infused harmony, all set to the tones of the West Coast Funk and Disco era of the early 1980s. The band also hark back to some of the Latin flavors featured on their previous album, with songs such as ‘Brazil’, and the album’s infectious closer, ‘Maquina’.
“Downtown” is an album that promises to take the listener on a journey back in time when Disco was king and Walkmans were all the rage. Twelve songs all evoke the feel-good vibes of summer nights at the beach.

The album’s eleven original songs have been meticulously crafted over years of live performances, refined through captivating performances from Madrid, to Rio, to New York and back home to Copenhagen.
Brought to life in the studio, BAUN is supported by a 25-piece ensemble of musicians and a rich array of instrumentation, including BAUN’s beloved Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer, and vintage synths like the Oberheim, Juno60, Prophet V, and Moog.
In BAUN’s own words, ‘Beginnings’ is a journey through my musical life so far. From the analogue world into the digital universe. From the first song I wrote as a piano student at the Conservatory to newer songs about authenticity and presence in a time when screens are stealing much of our attention. From uplifting songs and body-moving beats to more thoughtful moments […] You will hear the sound of twenty-five musicians singing and playing and adding their individual color to the whole.

De startet litt som et progrock band med pop profil i 1975 men på tredjealbumet i 1980 var de komplett konvertert til softrock AOR og ga ut det Doug Sax delikat produserte/mastrede albumet One Eighty.
