Ripper du fra vinyl kan det bli så dårlig eller så bra som du har utstyr/kunnskap/vilje til. Det finnes masse fantastisk musikk der ute på verdensveven som er ripper fra vinyl, både fancy, tjukk, jomfruvinyl og orginalpressinger fra fatterns ungsdomstid. Endel av det i bedre lydkvalitet enn n'te remasterede CD-utgivelse. Eller også bedre enn highres downloads som er tilgjengelig fordi plateselskapene fortsatt lager HR downloads på ihjelkomprimerte mastere. Dog er med dette som med det meste, - for noen blir det nesten religion. Nei, det blir ikke bedre enn CD bare fordi man ripper en LP. Og det tar tid å gjøre det skikkelig.
Jeg kan ikke stort om det selv, men her er hvordan noen kjente vinylrippere beskriver sine "needledrops". Har ikke noe å bidra med rent teknisk, men tror du vil kunne få noen tips om hvordan andre går frem og hva de bruker. Noen av disse ripper kun for å kunne høre musikken andre steder enn foran hifialteret, andre driver nesten musikkhistoriske prosjekter for å finne de beste pressingene av orginalmixene, noen ganger i mono, og kommer opp med langt bedre resultat enn plateselskapenes reissues. Den beste versjonen av Miles' Flamenco Sketches såkalt alternate version SteveMTNO sin rip av Classic Records 200g promo Quiex SV-P pressing hvor da la Flamenco Sketches i 45rpm på siste siden av plate 2...og han har ikke noen svindyr high end rigg, han er bare pinlig nøye og bruker ørene;

I cleaned up many clicks and pops manually. All restoration was done without harming the music.
