This Swedish made integrated amplifier represents all the accumulated experience that we at Bladelius have come to learn throughout the centuries. With its twin gigantic toroidal power transformers it generates a very solid 400 Watts at 8 ohms. Although very powerful its main objective is musicality and not only raw power. It truly lives up to the name of Oden by providing flawless speaker driving capacity, symbolizing the uncompromised design and quality that Bladelius has set to a pure standard in the industry.
The path of positive and negative current flowing through the voice coil must be completely symmetrical to accurately drive the loudspeaker diaphragm. So naturally symmetry was of a particular concern when designing the ODEN II. The pursuit to find a complete balance in the amplifier circuit, power source circuit and structural aspects.
With the design philosophy Simpler is better, we reduced the voltage amplifier stage to one for the shortest signal path possible. ODEN II provides a seldom found truly balanced design without ground as reference for highest possible performance. A high performance dc servo that works outside the signal path. The input stage is run by a pair of current loaded hand matched Jfets in a foldback cascade arrangement which gives a very linear performance regardless of the level of playback. This combined with current feedback gives you an extremely fast and stable performance.
To increase the purity of the power supply and achieve a more responsive and consistent audio reproduction, the rectifier stage has been completely redesigned and an even larger European made slit foil capacitor bank of over 260.000 uF effortlessly help delivering a dynamic and smooth sound with excellent transient response for which the ODEN II was designed. True to Bladelius long held design philosophy of Simpler is better, the ODEN II reduce the number of components needed for the first stage down to a minimum so as to allow music to be amplified in their purest form and pass through the circuit without losing even the most subtle information.
A pair of Jfet devices carefully hand selected by our specialist in the production line was incorporated into the amplifier’s redesigned input circuit. This improves the operational stability of amplification. As a result, every production unit of the ODEN II have identical performance characteristics, and the ODEN II delivers identical performance between the left and right channels. In addition, the new DC servo circuit stabilizes amplification, is resistant to changes in the operating temperature and the magnitude of input signals and will also eliminate fluctuations in sound intensity. All this attention to detail ensures that these amplifiers produce a powerful, condensed sound with deep, rich bass, allowing the listener to have a truly immersive stereophonic experience.
From the remote the user can conveniently select to run the unit in heavy Class-A or a more standard Class A/B mode.
Streamer/DAC option
The ODEN II will also be available with a DAC/Streamer option. The ODEN II DAC has an outstanding signal to noise ratio of more than 134dB, which is significant and shows how extremely capable this integrated amplifier is together with its streaming capabilities. As a streamer it handles most formats, such as DSD1024 and will stream files up to 32 bit, 728khz. It also carries Tidal connect, Spotify connect, Qobuz and Roon. This is all managed through a new web based app (it can also be controlled through the Tidal app) which means it can be controlled through any device you may desire. This allows for fast and easy updates from our part and is more accessible for the user who can then focus solely on the music.
A custom digital filter is processed in the XMOS 216 chip and it carries several user selectable modes. All to suite the listeners personal preferences.
The DAC is setup in a balanced configuration where all resistors are of 0.1% metal film type and the capacitors for the analog filters are of high quality polypropylene type. The DAC is also using an ultra stable crystal clock oscillator with extremely low phase noise.
The analog and digital power supplies are completely separated and all signal and power routes have been galvanically separated to make sure no digital noise can reach into the analog amplifier section.
The chassis is made out of machined non-magnetic materials to create the lowest possible electromagnetic field for improved sound quality. The ODEN II:s clean design represent both Bladelius philosophy of Simpler is better and classic Scandinavian design.
