Hurry and sell your VR-4jr's!! I had the VR-4jr's and the VR-33 is so much better in every way. The soundstage is something to behold!! It's wide, tall and deep. I listen at night with no lights on and you would think you are listening to a band on stage!! It's that good. The bass is very impressive.
My brother and Sister-In-Law came by Friday night. She is not a music person, but she even commented on how "Smooth" they were and that they had body(fuller that my VR-4jr's). She felt like she was at a concert with every song. My bro said this is the best sound he's ever heard!! So life like!! Like all of Alberts speakers (I've owned the VR-2, VR-4jr's and now the VR-33's) they sound great with all kinds of music. ECM type music, Trio jazz, classic rock, Prog rock, it all sounds awesome. It's delicate when they need to be and ballsy when they need to rock out!!
I brought Nina Simone back from the dead last night, because I could swear she was in my room last night singing!! I can't say enough about the soundstage!! It's like being @ the Chicago Theater in about the 4th row!! Awesome!!
Just a quick update. The tweeter is really opening up and is SMOOTH as hell. I was playing the new live "Download" of Paul Motian "Lost in a Dream". The cymbal work was so real. Smooth and detailed. As if the drum set was in the room. The tweeter/Midrange combo is a match made in heaven. I was playing some Jan Garbarek and on some speakers his sorprano sax can get fatiguing. Well, on the VR-33's it smooth and not harsh. I listened to his music for a couple of hours. Just beautiful. I do have to say that I use tube amps and preamp and I'm sure that helps. But I used the same amps and preamp with my VR-4jr's and didn't get a 1/64 of the results. And I really enjoyed my VR-4jr's. I still can't get over how big the soundstage is and how percise the images are!! I have to constantly pick my jaw off the ground, they are that good.
I was jamming to the Blu Ray DVD of Return to Forever!! I saw their reunion tour in Chicago @ the Chicago Theater. Great Show. The sound and soundstage were out of this world!! I felt like I was back @ the Chicago Theater!!
