Saturn's moon, Titan, is the only other body in the solar system that can support liquid on its surface. But not liquid water, liquid methane. What did NASA's Cassini discover about the methane lakes of Saturn's moon, Titan? https://brilliant.org/astrum/
The universe fascinates us not least because of its infinite widths. Inside the universe there is room for countless planets and celestial bodies, which far exceed our imagination with their gigantic number. But is the thesis of infinite space really unassailable? The discovery of the NASA space probes New Horizon's and Voyager 2 could give cause to rethink the generally accepted picture of the never-ending universe. But what exactly did the spacecraft discover in the gigantic expanses of space? Together with you, we would like to get to the bottom of this interesting topic.
From the award-winning team that brought you The Secret Life of Chaos comes a unique television event on the physics of gravity, featuring unexpected historical insights, cutting-edge science and exciting new experiments. With the brilliant Professor Jim Al-Khalili as our host, we visit the LIGO lab in the USA where gravity waves were discovered and uncover the latest theories about our cosmos that have come from studying the most intense sources of gravity imaginable – black holes. Elsewhere, Jim even uses Albert Einstein’s theories of special and general relativity to work out how the rate at which you age is affected by gravity and the speed at which you move about.
Mankind has been looking up to the stars for countless millennia. Then as now, Earth’s inhabitants have been driven by a pressing question: Are we alone? In step with the groundbreaking discoveries made in the course of modern research, the thesis that our home planet is the only celestial body in the universe that is home to living beings is becoming increasingly shaky. A sensational new observation on the part of the experts makes Saturn’s moon Enceladus one of the hottest candidates for the existence of extraterrestrial life forms. What the experts found on the ring planet’s constant companion and which unbelievable circumstance was derived from it, you’ll find out now in the following video.
Global Warming is taking a rare back seat in the news right now, as we deal with the more immediate existential crisis afflicting our civilisation and way of life. But as entire countries are getting shut down around the world, with the rapid reduction of emissions that this causes, is the global dimming paradox about to be tested? Will we see an abrupt spike in temperatures that tips our earth systems into an irreversible cascade of warming feedbacks?
An international team of scientists have accidentally enhanced a plastic eating enzyme in a discovery that could change our relationship with plastic forever. The breakthrough, if scaled up, could lead to plastic being broken down into its original components and formed into plastic items again, removing the need for making more of the material.
The mighty planet Neptune is enthroned in the most remote corners of our solar system. Due to its extraordinary nature, our remote galactic neighbor has repeatedly become the focus of scientific interest. Just what we have learned so far about this celestial body named after the Roman god of the sea and what strange spectacles take place in its interior, we’ll now reveal to you!
EMPATHY is an innovative configuration of permanent magnet electrical motor, based on the evolution of the FSPM (Flux Switching Permanent Magnet) architecture, enabling to limit torque ripple which traditionally affects such a configuration, being also characterized by high efficiency and high power and torque value.
Equipmake has 20 years' experience in developing and integrating industry-leading electric vehicle powertrains. One of its innovations is the APM200 spoke motor, a lightweight, compact, high performance electric motor. Ian Foley, managing director of Equipmake, explains how it works and why it is the next-generation of the electric motor.
Two stators & one rotor axial flux drone motor realization in Laplace Laboratory (Toulouse France). PhD thesis funded by Région Occitanie. Research on axial flux motors in partnership whith Santa Catarina University (Brazil) in the project CAPES-COFECUB n°ph930/19.
Rolls-Royce’s “Spirit of Innovation” all-electric aircraft took of on its maiden flight on 15 September 2021, at 13:56 UTC (14:56 BST), from the UK Ministry of Defence’s Boscombe Down site. The flight lasted for approximately 15 minutes. According to Rolls-Royce, “Spirit of Innovation” is propelled by a powerful 400kW (500+hp) electric powertrain with “the most power-dense battery pack ever assembled for an aircraft.” The aircraft is designed to reach speeds of 480+ kmh(300+ mph) and Rolls-Royce is targeting a world record attempt.
I got a lot Air Traffic Control videos sent to me, this one still blows my mind of the entitled pilot fighting with the controller.
