As seen in the daily TV newscasts, protesters are a motley of mostly young (20 to 35 year old) shirtless,shaggy-bearded self-proclaimed anti-capitalistic demonstrators who claim the "right" to turn city streets and squares into shantytowns to better express their rejection of society -stopping traffic and the circulation of pedestrians, and thereby interrupting for days on end the normal conduct of business at all sorts of stores and other workplaces-,without even the excuse of putting forth any specific claims or grudges (only anarchistic tirades against bankers, the Church and the moneyed classes). What one wonders is where do they actually live, eat, and get the money to buy the stylish jeans and T-shirts, cellphones and laptop computers they bring along to their sit-ins and demonstrations (most likely answer: from their parents, who bankroll their offspring's comfortably idle and street demonstration-prone way of life). These protesters are not laid-off office and industrial workers venting their ire against joblessness, or disgruntled trade-union members demanding action on specific issues, but primarily pampered teenagers, school dropouts and would-have-beens with a grudge against society who would like the Welfare State to support them from cradle to grave, and have now taken to the streets because the economic downturn has cut down the availability of both white collar or unskilled jobs (people with a degree or a skill actually emigrate to the U.K. or Australia, where Spanirds with job training or given skills are in demand -such as computer experts, nurses, physicians, architects, cooks, and even nannies- .
