The 3 provided a more forward projection on voices but the extreme treble could verge on the reedy at times and the shallowness of bass was accompanied by a certain loss of definition and depth of perspective. The stereo stage was wide and consistent over a sizeable listening area, with sideways dispersal well maintained at upper frequencies. Some signs of strain could be detected at too enthusiastic sound levels, so that we should regard the 3 as very definitely a lively, but small, domestic loudspeaker for possible bookshelf positioning where that back wall bass reinforcement is a necessary complement.
