first af all sorry for english and spelling mistakes
i have had allae / sbl / ibl and now sl2 . every of those fine speakers brought me closer to heaven

... actually allae never didi it for me sorry. i don´t want to offend someone owning those , but they were simply not to my taste and didn´t function acoustically in my room. as i described sometimes here i have a problem with a standing wave ( frequency here ) allae was the strongest and boomiest of all speakers. i have a very solid wall and a wooden suspended but very solid floor. i use the naim chips under all speakers. i have experimented with sbl a lot. found all that different construction ( from marble to complicated self construction and mana sbl stands ) in the end the naim chip didi it best. all speakers are leveled 100% and their spikes are placed totally in the middle of the naim chips. that turned out to be essentially to get them fast . ok call me freak

but it works...
i mentioned the allae already , so this is done. the dilemma with sbl and ibl. the ibl is so fast speaker and crispy clear. it maybe deserved an even better tweeter, but its lacking the volume. the sbl is slower, a bit woolier , but has the volume in contrast to ibl. sbl was a bit boomy in my place, what was fixed with ibl. the ibl is a really astonishing little wonder speaker. you need a small time to get used to it, but if you do you will not so easy let it go again. sbl is more forgiving to electronics, while ibl is demanding. best is active 500 set. you wont believe , what you hear

it s really pity naim doesn´t offer a speaker in the range anymore. the ovator series is very good, but totally different in presentation. the time of sbl, ibl and dbl seems to be gone for naim now. pity they gave up the close to the wall thoughts. it is a very important issue in my place. i don´t want my hifi set to rule the placement of my furniture all to much and found a very good compromise ( if compromise at all ).
the decision for the sl2 : the lacking volume of the ibl ( well really just in classical and rock music. a cello should have a body ) . many described the tweeter of the sl2 as a relief but lacks of bass compared to other constructions, bit like ibl. i thought it might be a try worth, since i didn´t want a too dominant bass , because of my standing wave in the room. i called naim directly and spoke to some sl2 familiar guys. they also described the sbl as a bass stronger speaker. but the sl2 as much more refined speaker. an opportunity came up and i bought one in my favor cherry colour. well what can i say. the plan just worked out. the sl2 sings like nothing here before. what a speaker!!. even more detailed as ibl but with a vollume to dream of. listen to some cello or violin . to ian pace on drums ;D... just fantastic.it has an amazing stage , something not always typical for naim. in my room it is placed as close to the wall as the ibl. 6 cm. 180 appart. i have an long room and it is standing on the longer site. the listening section is approx. 4 x 5 meters.
it is driven in an active mode . what surprised me a bit, that i didn´t need to change the snaxo settings until now. maybe i should experiment a bit. i just wanted it to settle in first. if you know, what kind of crazy speaker construction this is , you will understand and respect. just someone nuts like naim could build those
the sl2 is easy to drive. much easier then ibl, but it will shine more and more , the higher you climb the naim or phonosophie ladder. i believe it will also play well together with other amplification. so supernait will certainly play well together. my ibl played nice with the supernait and i expect the sbl or sl2 to be improved.
since the sl2 moved in it is that kind of satisfactory smile on my face. you just throw what you wish on the turntable and voila ...great
